FCC §2.1093 Portable Device Testing – Interim Simplified Guidance
Posted: April 2, 2025
The FCC has issued new interim guidance for testing RF exposure of portable devices under §2.1093, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and similar rectangular form factor electronics.
Under this guidance, body exposure must be evaluated at ≤5 mm unless an on-body holder is used and documented in grant exhibits. In that case, a test separation distance of up to 25 mm is permissible. This aligns with KDB 447498v06 and helps maintain consistent regulatory standards across device types. View More (PDF)
