ACB and Washington Labs Earn Dynamic Frequency Selection Recognition

ACB is pleased to announce that the FCC has recognized ACB and Washington Laboratories for Dynamic Frequency Selection Accreditation (DFS) for UNII devices under Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Working closely with our partners at NIST and ANAB, we can now test and certify Wi-Fi devices for Certification in the 5 GHz U-NII bands.

DFS techniques are used to avoid interference to radar systems in the US. Such radars include critical weather and atmospheric monitoring under the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other critical federal agencies that need these data to protect life and property. Under the provisions of the DFS Rules, devices that use certain parts of the 5 GHz spectrum must be able to detect and avoid frequencies that are used, so-called “incumbent” users that need to have very sensitive receivers to detect radar echoes from weather systems and airborne objects.

Thanks to our partners in industry and government for their efforts to complete our accreditation and recognition.
