New ENERGY STAR® Certification Requirements Effective January 1, 2011
American Certification Body Earns EPA ENERGY STAR® Recognition
American Certification Body has recently been recognized by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the newly-revamped ENERGY STAR® program that requires that all new product submissions from manufacturers participating in the ENERGY STAR® program be reviewed by an EPA-recognized Certification Body (CB).
To ensure that ENERGY STAR® remains a trusted symbol for environmental protection and superior energy efficiency, all ENERGY STAR® product partners will be required to follow a new set of Third-Party Certification procedures effective January 1, 2011.
ENERGY STAR is the trusted, EPA-backed symbol for energy efficiency helping to save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.
The ENERGY STAR® label was established to:
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants caused by the inefficient use of energy; and
- Make it easy for consumers to identify and purchase energy-efficient products that offer savings on energy bills without sacrificing performance, features, and comfort.
The broad enhancements EPA has put in place will ensure that consumers get the energy savings they have come to expect from the ENERGY STAR label. ACB is honored to partner with EPA in this important effort.
For our laboratory clients and partners, product qualification requires testing to be performed at EPA-recognized facilities. ACB can provide the support and necessary auditing to accept test data at third-part laboratories providing measurements for ENERGY STAR Certification.
For our manufacturing clients and partners, they may elect to participate in first-party testing under American Certification Body’s supervision as a Supervised Manufacturer Testing Laboratory or as a Witness Manufacturer Testing Laboratory.
